European Parliament Special Interest Group (SIG) on Brain Disorders

SIG is an initiative spearheaded by EFNA, a member of EBC. EFNA called for the establishment of such a group in response to the findings of the Cost of Disorders of the Brain in Europe (CBDE) study. The goal of this SIG is to bring important issues relating to brain disorders to the attention of decision-makers and the public. Among the issues it will consider are: the lack of research into brain disorders, the problems facing the conduct of clinical trials and the inequitable access to drugs across Europe.

The SIG was launched on 12 October 2005 at the European Parliament in Brussels, and is chaired by the British MEP John Bowis. See www.efna.net for further information. For a detailed overview of the launch of the SIG, see the EBC newsletter of December 2005.
